The Policing and Security Branch (PSB), Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (PSSG) is comprised of two divisions; Police Services Division and Security Programs Division. The branch provides central oversight of policing, law enforcement and the security industry in British Columbia. Policing in British Columbia is provided by the RCMP, 11 independent municipal police departments and one First Nations administered police service. Several agencies, such as the South Coast British Columbia Transit Authority Police Service, provide supplemental policing.

The Director of Police Services superintends policing in British Columbia on behalf of the Minister. The Director establishes provincial policing standards, inspects and reports on the quality of policing and law enforcement and administers programs.

The government of British Columbia is committed to taking action to prevent the harm created by Organized Crime, the trafficking of deadly drugs and the violence in our communities that result from gun and gang violence. The Executive Director, Serious & Organized Crime Initiatives, reports to the Director of Police Service and works with law enforcement, provincial and federal government ministries, communities and non-government agencies in the identification, development and implementation of strategies in support of these public safety priorities.

The Program Evaluation Analyst, reporting to the Executive Director, Serious & Organized Crime and Deputy Director of Police Services, will be supporting the Serious & Organized Crime Initiatives Unit (SOCIU) in its responsibility of administering, analysing and reporting to Canada. A by-product of this position will be the leveraging of analysis for the purposes of the provincial work on Social Return on Investment (ROI) indicators currently underway. will be leveraging analysis for the purpose of the provincial work on Social Return on Investment (ROI) indicators currently underway. This will determine the broader reaching economic and social cost resulting from gun and gang violence.

The Program Evaluation Analyst, reporting to the Director, Office of Crime Reduction & Gang Outreach , will be supporting the Office of Crime Reduction and Gang Outreach (OCR-GO) by conducting grant program analysis, managing and administering evaluation and reporting processes, and analyzing data to determine the effectiveness of funded initiatives. This position will liaise with a counterpart in the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Branch to research, recommend and develop community safety and wellbeing initiatives in priority communities affected by serious and organized crime.
